A Message from the President of the Piedmont Chapter of the ASSE

Let me introduce myself, my name is Alex Sierra and I’m honored to have been elected as the Piedmont Chapter ASSE President. I’m currently the HSE Director for Fluor Constructors International, Inc. I have over 18 years of safety, health and emergency response experience. In my career I have been able to collaborate in diverse industry sectors such as manufacturing, construction and mining.

What an exciting year to become the President of the Piedmont Chapter! This year, the American Society of Safety Engineers is celebrating its 100th anniversary. In addition, thanks to the dedication of our past President, officers and members, the Piedmont Chapter is experiencing one of the best periods since its formation. Our Student Chapter has been nationally recognized, the 2011 Professional Development Conference at Grainger was a total success and participation in technical meetings has reached record high.

As the President, I will capitalize in the momentum the chapter has reached to assure we achieve all the goals we have planned. My vision is to give back to the community as much as we can in form of additional support to our student chapter at WCU, the creation of an additional student chapter at Clemson University, collaboration with small business and outreach organizations promoting safety.

I would like to thank you all for your trust, I’m sure we will have an exciting year of activities. I’m looking forward to see you all during our technical meetings and social events.

Regards,

Alex Sierra
