President's Message - 2010-2011

Welcome to the new year of the ASSE Piedmont Chapter.

Please let me introduce myself. My name is Kurt Rayburg and I am honored to be your new president of the Piedmont Chapter of A.S.S.E. In my full time job I am the Workplace Safety Director at Rosenfeld Einstein. Being a safety consultant with this large agency has given me the opportunity to meet and work with many safety professionals. It is exciting to see the results of safety efforts and the positive impacts it has on people and businesses.

This year has been is filled with many exciting ideas and activities by so many participants, members, non-members and students. However, meeting everyone’s ambitions and expectations can be a challenging.

The Piedmont Chapter has come a long way in the last 10 years and the below are some examples to help understand our strength and momentum:

As president, I will work hard to bring these and other programs and ideas to reality. And of course I am also looking for safety professionals to help in this effort. Being a part of this chapter means more than just passively attending a technical meeting. It means being a part of something that will provide benefit to you and many others. Promoting safety, enhancing safety awareness and providing direction to those who don’t understand the importance of our profession is only part of our objective. Having the courage to step up and do something to improve yourself and others is another important element.

We all know that success feels good. Contributing to ASSE efforts may provide you with much more. Your decision to be involved will undoubtedly make a difference and the network you establish will help you in future challenges. I have found many rewarding experiences being a part of ASSE. Seeing others succeed through the efforts of the chapter is the best reward. Come join us in our efforts.

Kurt Rayburg, CSP, CPEA
ASSE Piedmont Chapter President
