Ryan Wagner, CSP is originally from Lexington, Kentucky and is 26 years old. His dad is an electrician and a maintenance man and this is the reason why he got into the field of occupational safety. He went to school at Eastern Kentucky University where he received a bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and a minor concentration in fire and safety engineering technology. His parents did not attend college and he was the first one of three brothers to graduate from a university. While in school he took his first internship with Truland Systems in Washington DC where he worked on a number of large construction sites as a site safety officer including sites such as the FDA expansion. Upon returning to school he accepted a position with Eastern Kentucky University as an EHS Technician, Ryan remained in the position until he accepted his 2nd internship position with Toyota Motor Manufacturing which is where Ryan started his professional career in occupational safety as a safety specialist. After jump starting his career at Toyota and learning from an amazing company Ryan decided he wanted to pursue his lifelong dream of going to graduate school, so he accepted a position at Clemson University as the Safety Compliance Manger handling all things OSHA and began the process of applying to grad school. He was accepted into the MBA corporate program at Clemson and will begin studies this fall. At the age of 24 Ryan was able to sit and pass the CSP exam which had been a goal of his from the beginning of his occupational safety career. Ryan enjoys volunteering in the community and in the past he has volunteered in youth leagues as a baseball coach and with Toyota as an earth day leader rehabilitating cabins and state parks. The thing Ryan says he enjoys most about the profession is the ability to not only better the workplace for employees but also having the ability to touch every aspect of a company and constantly learn from his peers.
