Welcome to the website of the Piedmont Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers.

Founded in 1911, ASSE is the oldest and largest professional safety organization. Its more than 30,000 members manage, supervise and consult on safety, health, and environmental issues in industry, insurance, government and education. ASSE is guided by a 16-member Board of Directors, which consists of 8 regional vice presidents; three council vice presidents; Society president, president-elect, senior vice president, vice president of finance and executive director. ASSE has 12 practice specialties, 150 chapters, 56 sections and 64 student sections.

President's Message - August 2008

Welcome all to the 2008-2009 ASSE Piedmont Chapter Year!

Our chapter has a lot of dedicated EHS professional who strongly believe in the function and goals of the Piedmont chapter of ASSE. We are always looking for new members who are willing to step up to the plate and get involved in our chapter. I challenge anyone who is a member or consider becoming a member to contact me (below) if you have any interest.

Our officers and other members have met several times already early into our fiscal year of planning monthly meetings and working toward another successful PDC in April 2, 2009. The PDC will be held at Michelin’s MC2 Center. The planning committee is working very diligently toward a great PDC. If any member or anyone else would like to get their feet wet and serve on the planning committee, please call Tom Meehan at 864–240-5408.

The first two of our five scheduled monthly meetings have been confirmed for the 2008-9 year. If you go to our web site at piedmont.asse.org and go to the meetings and events you will see the schedule of meetings that have been confirmed. All monthly meetings will be held at the Michelin’s MC2 Center.

The success of our chapter’s future growth and development of EHS professional lies in the hands of all its members. I challenge all of you to get out of the box and submit ideas for improvement and/or suggested monthly topics so our chapter can continue to meet our customer’s needs. We can not grow without all of your involvement in our chapter.
