The Safety Engineer is responsible for the development, implementation, and review of health and safety programs at the coastal GA location. These programs can include but are not limited to lockout, hazard communication, confined space entry, contractor control, fall protection, and employee safety training. The position also provides key support for risk reduction activities (e.g., Process Hazard Analysis [PHA], Safe Standard Operating
Procedures (SSOPs), Risk Assessments, Start-Up Safety Audits, and Management of Change [MoC], and other internal inspections and audits).
Additionally, the Safety Engineer is actively involved in the location’s goals to achieve OHSAS 18001 certification and a total recordable rate
(TRR) of 2.0 or less through the use of six sigma or other analytical
tools. The Safety Engineer is the EHS Department’s primary resource in
reviewing/developing equipment standards (e.g., dust collectors, bucket
elevators). The position also plays a broader role as a member of ISC’s
Corporate EHS team and may be called upon to support Corporate initiatives or initiatives at other ISC facilities.

Job Summary: Major responsibilities include managing the development, implementation and administration of policies, programs and systems relating to all facets of the Safety, Loss Control and Regulatory Compliance functions within the Global Risk Management Group. The position will be business group specific, with international, multi-jurisdictional and multi-operating unit responsibilities and will report to the Corporate Risk Manager.
Essential Functions:
- Formulate, implement, administer and develop metrics for monitoring and interpreting performance of general safety and loss control policies for application across the breadth of the domestic and international operations of the company.
- Manage the regulatory compliance efforts of the assigned business units to include reporting on local, municipal, state, federal and provincial matters regarding occupational safety and hazardous materials (HAZMAT).
- Coordinate required training programs, including those required for site-specific activities.
- Manage the delivery of vendor services, within the overall risk management program framework, as they apply to the safety and loss control functions. Establish metrics to measure vendor performance and interpret them to improve service delivery.
- Coordinate the implementation of site-specific team training and coaching sessions, and participate in these as required.

Environmental Technician (7/12/10)
Our Environmental Technician provides support to our In-Plant Services programs. This support includes participating in event projects, chemical handling, lab pack duties, data entry, drum movements within the plant, drum bulking, drum crushing, and assisting when extra personnel are needed. The position may also include operating light equipment, heavy equipment and trucks on a part time basis.
