Health & Safety Supervisor (3/17/10)
Essential Duties and Responsibilties:
- Makes studies and analyses of industrial accident causes and hazards to health for use by company personnel and outside agencies.
- Formulates general safety permits, policies and procedures to be followed by company or plant personnel in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
- Consults with all departments on design and use of equipment, shops, fire prevention and safety program.
- Inspects or tours organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, and recommends corrective or preventative measures where indicated.
- Reports on the performance of the Environmental Management System, chairs management review of the Environmental Management System as a basis for Continuous Improvement.
- Participates in the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, law suits, and insurance investigations.
- Compiles and submits accidents reports required by regulatory agencies.
- Oversees the administration of workers' compensation program, including working with the insurance carrier to cut down on lost employee time and cut back on unjust claims, in the absence of a plant nurse.
- Devises, supervises, and coordinates training programs or media which will increase proficiency in safe practices and promote safety and environmental consciousness.
- Prepares and arranges safety exhibits and material for display, promotional work, industry conferences and exhibitions.
- Maintains safety files and records.
- Facilitate safety meetings.
- Schedule/ Coordinate third party audit registration
- Verify, maintain & follow up on both internal & external corrective actions and monitor/follow up on continuous improvement activities.
- Oversee consultant activities as needed and coordinate certification audits.
- Other duties as directed by the Human Resources Manager.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's (BS or BA) Degree in Safety or Safety Engineering or equivalent in years of experience and education.
- Ability to Interface with Automated Systems

Jr. Level Site Safety Officer (11/15/09)
We are the current contractor for USEPA in Region 2 (NY/NJ/PR/USVI) and have a site in Puerto Rico that is in need of a JR Level Site Safety Officer. That person must be familiar with both construction and environmental. They also need to have a 40 Hour HAZWOPR Certificate. The project is the Refinery that recently exploded (Gulf). The project will last 1-4 months. We are offering a competitive hourly rate, per diem at $82 per day, and hotel room in a very nice hotel (no sharing of rooms with other personnel so this person would have their own room to invite spouse/family/GF/BF/etc). Right now the site demands 24 hour a day and 7 day a week attention. That may change in the next month as we scale back from 24 hour opps. Bi-lingual is a plus....not required.
